The one about sport

…or architecture. Our Energy Savings in Buildings course had a field trip to the World Games Stadium in Kahsiung today. The architect, Toyo Ito, is from Japan and integrated the design of the building and the surrounding nature. Did he succeed? Take a look and decide for yourself.

In the upcoming week there will be a soccer tournament here. That’s why we weren’t allowed to step on the turf with shoes. Anyone following the European Championship? I’m looking forward to the upcoming weeks, so far the games haven’t been very exciting.

Beautiful field…apparently the closest to international standard you can get within Taiwan.

Say hello to the Energy Savings in Buildings class of 2016.

In the shadow the temperatures were bearable. At least it didn’t rain!

The one where everyone finished their finals

It’s this time of the year again. The past few weeks everyone’s been very busy, stressed out, and a bit cranky from time to time. That was due to all the projects, final presentations, and of course exams that piled up in the last two weeks of the semester.

Since I’m not studying at the moment it was kind of funny to see everyone being in a hurry and most places that you’d frequently run into people were deserted. Now the finals are over, late night studying is replaced by drinking on weekdays. Sadly it’s also the time in which a lot of people visit their family abroad or in other parts of Taiwan. It was nice though, seeing most people one last time before they head home. I’m glad that I found more friends that are actually going to stay in Taiwan for a while and aren’t exchange students. That makes the life here a lot nicer.

Drifters did some soundproofing yesterday and was closed because of that. We went to a different bar than usual and were surprised of how much we loved the comfy sofa and playing Jenga while enjoying German beer and onion rings.

Next week I’ll be one of those people who’ll go abroad to visit family. Even though it’s technically not my own I’m looking forward to see them again and to explore more of Japan than before.
